added my commentary per request: these world war II toy russian soldiers play outside in the morning sun atop a battered military canteen once belonging to my friend's grandfather. it was yet another thing the two of us have in common ~ in spite of growing up in different countries in opposition to one another, we share so many common interests and emotions. my grandfather also fought in world war II and, like my russian friend, i inherited his treasured memorabilia. as children, we both listened raptly to our grandfather's stories and now pass on these bits of history to our own children. love between friends is beautiful and transcends even the pain of war. peace.

My Manifesto

thank you! i was trying to capture the feeling i had from the textures of the scratched up canteen and worn toys, and what i loved most about the pictures when i uploaded them later were the shadows :)
:iconshivernamelessone:
thank you! i did not realize the deeper significance of the image until i was viewing it full screen later :)
:iconmoosedeevita:
